Need to learn about possum fur. Does it lose fur after tanning?

Have they got that far north? :chuckle:
I always have troubles with the fur around the neck, mostly the underside slipping.
They have a layer of fat there that is hard to flesh and I think it is real easy to damage the roots when fleshing. Cut around the pouch and create a huge window. The back is the good fur. If they are big and pale you are looking at about $3. If they are black and small maybe 50 cents.

I usually trap several each year....just not on purpose. The most I got for one was $5.  George Sovie bought it at one of our fur sales, I think he felt sorry for me.

No, they have not made it this far. Just looked at a fur last weekend and think it is nice fur. May try to pick a few up this winter. When do they prime?

They look nice but they shed. The pale ones are pretty, blacks not so much.
I don't remember the year, must have been in the middle 90s, is when they first showed up here. They seemed to increase every year for a while. Now the population seems to have gone the other way. I don't see them as much. I think I caught a couple last year. The 50 cent ones :'(
